One of the greatest symbols of American liberty for over 200 years has been our nation’s solid silver coinage. During World War II, the U.S. Mint continued to strike the large Walking Liberty Silver Half Dollar and the Mercury Silver Dime. These coins were iconic symbols of Liberty during the World War II era. The specimens that remain today have been out of circulation for generations.
The Walking Liberty Silver Half Dollar is considered one of America’s most beautiful coins. The obverse depicts Lady Liberty wrapped in a U.S. flag while the reverse shows a magnificent American eagle with its wings stretched. The Mercury Silver Dime features a portrait of Liberty in a winged cap on the front with a Roman fasces (an ax within a group of rods) on the reverse. Each of these coins was struck in 90% silver. The coins come with a Free display box and are in beautiful hand-selected VF (Very Fine) condition with a Certificate of Authenticity.
