Collectors rejoice! Here is a complete collection of all 16 Susan B. Anthony Dollar coins, including every Uncirculated and Proof coin from every Mint (Philadelphia, Denver, and San Francisco). The Anthony Dollar was first minted in 1979, but it was struck only until 1981 because it was so unpopular and was almost never seen in circulation. As a result, the mintages dropped dramatically after the first year, and all coins are now very hard to find. The coin was brought back for one final year in 1999 as an emergency issue prior to the introduction of the Sacagawea Dollar in 2000.
This historic coin honors Susan B. Anthony (1820-1906), the woman’s rights pioneer whose work led to the 19th Amendment to the Constitution that assures women the right to vote. The reverse design is adapted from the Apollo 11 mission patch and shows an American eagle landing on the moon. The Earth can be seen above the eagle’s head.
