Unique Penny Collection

This collection includes the three most sought-after Penny coin types – the Large Penny (1793-1857), copper-nickel Indian Head Penny (1859-1864), and 1909 “VDB” Lincoln Penny.

The Large Penny was America’s first one cent coin.  It was about the size of a Half Dollar and was one of the first coins ever struck by the new United States Mint in 1793.

The first Indian Head Penny was struck by the U.S. Mint in 1859 and was the first regular-issue small-size one cent coin.  The copper-nickel coins were struck during the Civil War years from 1859-1864.  All later coins are bronze.

The first Lincoln Penny was struck by the U.S. Mint in 1909 to commemorate the 100th anniversary of Abraham Lincoln’s birth.  The first coins in 1909 feature designer Victor D. Brenner’s bold “VDB” initials at the bottom of the reverse.  Only the first few coins in 1909 have the initials; all others were made without the initials.

Each coin in this collection is carefully hand-selected for exceptional collector quality and is displayed in a custom presentation case with a Certificate of Authenticity.
