US Coast Guard One Ounce Silver Proof Medallion

Each silver medallion is struck in one Troy ounce of .999 pure silver. The date 1790 symbolizes the year in which the Coast Guard was established. Two crossed anchors in the background complete the design.

The reverse of the medallion is adapted from the Great Seal of the United States.  Similar images appear on many classic U.S. silver coins.  The Great Seal was adopted by Congress on June 20, 1782.  It shows an American bald eagle with its wings outstretched and with a Union shield on its breast.   The shield represents the unity of the states in forming a single nation.  The Eagle holds arrows of defense and an olive branch of peace in its talons, indicating that the United States is a peaceful nation that will defend its borders and the liberty of its people.  The 13 stars above the eagle symbolize the 13 original states.

The medallion is encapsulated in a clear holder that allows it to be examined and admired without damaging its delicate Proof finish. It is delivered in a custom presentation case with a Certificate of Authenticity.
