MS70 American Veterans Disabled for Life Silver Dollar

On February 25, 2010, the U.S. Mint issued the American Veterans Disabled for Life Commemorative Silver Dollar.  A maximum of only 350,000 coins have been authorized by the United States Mint to honor these brave heroes.  They are minted from .900 fine silver.

The images on this new Silver Dollar beautifully capture the service of the brave men and women who have honored us with their selfless duty in defending our country.  These veterans often carry permanent life-altering disabilities that serve as strong reminders of the price of freedom.  The obverse of the coin features an image of the legs and boots of three veterans, with the inscription “ THEY STOOD UP FOR US”.  The reverse depicts a forget-me-not flower at the base of a ribbon-wrapped wreath of oak branches.  The oak branches represent strength, while the forget-me-not is a widely recognized icon that first served as a reminder of those who fought and became disabled in World War I.  After the war, this flower became the accepted symbol for commemorating those who had fallen.

These coins have been graded MS70 and are certified as a coveted "Inaugural Strike" release by ANACS, the official American Numismatic Association grading service and one of the most respected independent coin grading services.  Their Brilliant Uncirculated MS70 condition means that these are the highest quality coins known–they are virtually in flawless condition.  Coins are graded on a 70-point scale, and it is impossible to find a higher grade coin.  Only a very limited number of these coins were certified as an Inaugural Strike, which is exclusive to American Historic Society.  In fact, ANACS certified only 295 coins as both "Inaugural Strike" and MS70.

The coin is encapsulated in a tamper-proof holder to protect its condition for the future and to preserve the Inaugural Strike certification.  This guarantees the coin's authenticity and condition as long as the case remains intact.  The coin will be delivered in a free deluxe wooden collector's case (a $15 value).
