The 2009 United States Mint Set features a record 36 coins and is a limited edition collection of each of the year's circulating coins issued at every mint.  The coins have a special "Satin" finish which is created exclusively for United States Mint Sets.  No Satin finish coins are released into circulation or are made available individually.  Satin Finish coins look different from regular coins because the dies are sandblasted with a fine mixture of sand and glass beads.  They are very rare and distinctive.

The set includes these Philadelphia and Denver mint specimens: 4 newly designed Lincoln Pennies, Jefferson Nickel, Roosevelt Dime, six Quarters, Kennedy Half Dollar, Sacagawea Dollar, and four Presidential Dollars (Harrison, Tyler, Polk and Taylor).  In the case of the Kennedy Half Dollar, none of these coins were ever released into circulation, so this is a rarely-seen example of the 2009 coin which would be virtually impossible to find in your pocket change.
