Australian 2012 Year of the Dragon Gold Lunar Set - MS70

2012 marks “the year of the dragon” in the Chinese Zodiac and this fiery, mythical beast is the inspiration for the fifth installment of the popular Australian Lunar Gold Coin Series.  This 3-piece set contains a 1/10, 1/4 and 1/2 ounce pure gold Dragon coin.  Because these coins have an extremely low mintage of just 5,000, 3,000, and 2000 respectively, they are among the most highly anticipated and hugely sought after coins of 2012.  There were not nearly enough produced to meet collector demand so we urge you to act fast in acquiring them.

The reverse of each coin features a breathtaking rendition of a mythical dragon chasing after a pearl.  The Chinese character for ‘dragon’ and the inscription ‘Year of the Dragon’ also appear in the design along with The Perth Mint’s traditional ‘P’ mintmark.  In the Chinese Zodiac, the Dragon is a symbol of power and wealth and is believed to bring good fortune and prosperity.
