2013 National Parks Quarters Silver Proofs - PR70 Grade

The U.S. Mint America the Beautiful Quarters Program is a multi-year initiative honoring 56 national parks and other national sites in each state, the District of Columbia and U.S. territories. Under this program, five new reverse designs will appear on the quarter-dollar each year beginning in 2010 and ending in 2021. The coins will be issued in the order in which the featured site was first established as a national park or site.

The fourth five coins in the series to be released in 2013 feature White Mountain National Forest, NH, Perry's Victory and International Peace Memorial, OH, Great Basin National Park, NV, Fort McHenry National Monument and Historic Shrine, MD, and Mount Rushmore National Memorial, SD. These 90% silver coins are the proof version– proofs are the highest quality possible and also the rarest. They undergo a specialized minting process whereby the coins are struck multiple times so the softly frosted, yet detailed images seem to float above a mirror-like field.
