2011 Medal Of Honor Proof Silver Dollar PR70 Grade
The Medal of Honor is the highest award for valor in action against an enemy force that can be bestowed upon an individual serving in the U.S. Armed Forces. Fewer than 3,500 Medals of Honor have ever been awarded. It is presented to a person who distinguishes him or herself conspicuously by gallantry and intrepidity at the risk of his or her life above and beyond the call of duty.
We arranged for the very best of these 90% silver coins to be immediately graded and the coin offered here has been independently certified by ANACS as in perfect Proof 70 condition. The coin also has a Deep Cameo finish - the highest level of Proof quality available. As a result, this is a truly gem coin that literally can not be improved upon. Proof coins are struck at least twice on highly polished coin blanks to bring out the mirrored background and high-relief images. They are the rarest and highest quality coins possible from the United States Mint.
The front depicts the three current Army, Navy and Air Force Medals of Honor and the reverse features a contemporary infantry soldier carrying a wounded soldier to safety under enemy fire.
The combined Proof and Uncircuated mintages for this coin totals just 500,000. Fewer still were from the first day of release and certified as an “Inaugural Strike" issue. Even fewer were also graded in PR70 condition. Just 184 PR70 Inaugural Strike coins are available. They are encapsulated in a tamper-proof holder to protect their condition for the future and to preserve the Inaugural Strike certification.
