2011 5 Oz. Silver Bullion National Park Quarters - MS69
Includes FREE Hardwood Display Box
The law that enacted the National Parks quarter program also authorized the production of 5 ounce .999 fine silver coins to be produced that bear the same design as the 2011 quarters. Each .999 fine silver coin in this stunning set was struck by the U.S. Mint and is official legal tender. This set includes the 2011 Quarter designs for Gettysburg National Military Park, Glacier National Park, Olympic national Park, Vicksburg National Military Park and Chickasaw National Recreation Area.
Weighing 5 ounces and measuring 3” in diameter, the coins are the largest and heaviest legal tender coins ever made by the Mint. Since these coins are legal tender, they have a face value of 25 cents, a mere fraction of what the coin is worth due to it silver content. The coins’ silver fineness and weight are incused on the edge.
ANACS, America's oldest and most respected independent coin-grading company, graded a small number of these coins as near perfect MS69, the second highest grade possible for a Brilliant Uncirculated coin. In addition, each of the five coins in this collection is certified as an Inaugural Strike, guaranteeing that it was one of the first coins struck. The coins are encapsulated in matching sonically-sealed ANACS holders to protect their condition and to preserve the Inaugural Strike certification.
Due to their unprecedented large size, the massive amount of silver, and the difficulty of striking coins of this size, the U.S. Mint made only 35,000 complete five-coin sets. Of those, just 22 sets were certified by ANACS as Inaugural Strike MS69. Each set is displayed in a free, custom wooden presentation case which is lockable for added security.
