2010 MS67 Inaugural Strike Lincoln Cent Mint Mark Set

This set of 2010 Lincoln Cents from the Philadelphia and Denver Mints has been certified to be in MS67 condition and is a limited “Inaugural Strike” edition of just 797, exclusive to the American Historic Society. The coins were graded by ANACS, an independent third party grading company. Coins are graded on a 70-point scale and MS60 is considered to be Brilliant Uncirculated condition. MS67 condition is a full seven grades higher. Unlike never-released “proof” and bullion coins, when a coin is minted for general circulation, MS67 is the highest possible grade it can achieve.

These coins are also certified as "Inaugural Strike" coins that were acquired directly from the United States Mint on the first day of release. They were immediately certified and encapsulated in a tamper-proof holder to protect their condition and to preserve the MS67 Inaugural Strike ANACS certification.

Beginning in 2010, the United States Mint is issuing a new one-cent coin to replace the last of the four-coin series of 2009 Lincoln Bicentennial Cents. The new reverse design features a union shield with a scroll draped across it with the inscription "ONE CENT." The 13 vertical stripes of the shield represent the states joined in one compact union to support the federal government. The horizontal bar features the inscription E PLURIBUS UNUM – "out of many, one", while the inscription UNITED STATES OF AMERICA is depicted along the upper rim of the coin. The union shield, which dates back to the 1780s, was used widely during the Civil War. The shield is also featured on frescoes throughout the halls of the U.S. Capitol Building.

This clean and refreshing 2010 reverse design is sure to be a welcome addition to the family of classic cent reverses.
