2009 Native American Dollar Mint Mark Set

2009 is the First Year of Issue for the US Mint's new Native American Dollar Series celebrating the important contributions made by Native American tribes and individual Native Americans to the history and development of the United States. The obverse design remains the "Sacagawea" design first produced in 2000.  The reverse will feature a differenent Native American commemorative design every year!  This set of five coins includes each of the three finishes the Mint produces:

2 Brilliant Uncirculated dollars - 1 each from the Philadelphia and Denver Mints

2 Special Satin Finish dollars - 1 each from the Philadelphia and Denver Mints (To produce Satin finsh coins, the dies are sandblasted with a fine mixture of sand and glass beads)

1 Proof dollor from the San Francisco Mint (A Proof coin is struck at least twice on a specially polished coin blank, and the coin press is set at very high pressure. The result is that the designs are much more three-dimensional, and the coins have a distinctive golden mirror-like background. These coins are made available only to collectors and are not released into circulation. They are included in the annual Proof Set, so they are not made available individually. The only way to get one is to break open an original Proof Set)
