2007 Washington Error Dollar MS67 Grade

In 2007, the U.S. Mint introduced the new Presidential Dollars Series, an extensive collection that celebrates each non-living U.S. President on a unique golden Dollar coin. These Presidential Dollars are struck from the same golden alloy as the popular Sacagawea Golden Dollars. The obverse features the portrait of the President, while the reverse depicts the Statue of Liberty.

These Washington error coins are known popularly as the "Godless" Dollars, and here’s why: The edge of the 2007 Washington Presidential Dollar was supposed to feature the inscriptions "In God We Trust," "E Pluribus Unum," "2007" and the "P" or "D" mint mark. However, a small number of coins from the Philadelphia Mint were struck in error without any edge inscriptions at all, leaving a perfectly smooth edge! This was a rare error, and the U.S. Mint has since put safeguards in place to prevent future coins being issued with this flaw. To collectors, however, such “error” coins are considered highly collectible since so few of them are in existence.

This coin is certified in Brilliant Uncirculated MS-67 condition. Coins are graded on a 70-point scale, with 70 being absolute perfection, so this coin is in the upper echelon of the grading universe. Each Washington Dollar is encapsulated in a tamper-proof holder to protect it for the future and to preserve its MS-67 certification. This unique error coin comes in a free hardwood display box - a $15 value!.
