2007 Adams Error Dollar MS67 Grade
In 2007, the U.S. Mint introduced the new Presidential Dollars Series, an extensive collection that celebrates each non-living U.S. President on a unique golden Dollar coin. These Presidential Dollars are struck from the same golden alloy as the popular Sacagawea Golden Dollars. The obverse features the portrait of the President, while the reverse depicts the Statue of Liberty.
Shortly after the 2007 John Adams Presidential Dollar was issued, a few coins came to light that had a dramatic error. Somehow, a small number of coins were accidentally sent through the edge inscription presses twice, resulting in two distinct impressions of each of the letters and numbers. To date, all known double edge lettering errors have come only from the Philadelphia Mint. The U.S. Mint has since put safeguards in place to prevent future “mistakes” like this, making these Adams Dollars particularly prized for their rarity.
This coin is certified in Brilliant Uncirculated MS-67 condition. Coins are graded on a 70-point scale, with 70 being absolute perfection, so this coin is in the upper echelon of the grading universe. Each Adams Error Dollar is encapsulated in a tamper-proof holder to protect it for the future and to preserve its MS-67 certification. This unique error coin comes in a free hardwood display box - a $15 value!.
