1921 Peace Silver Dollar
Production of the very first Peace Dollars took place from December 26-31 in 1921, a short 6-day mint run that made this 1921 coin the rarest date in the entire history of the Peace Silver Dollar. Coins minted in 1921 were also distinctive because they were the only ones to feature a special “high relief” surface that was discontinued in all subsequent years. Less than 1% of all Peace Dollars are of this variety, making this historic coin very difficult to obtain today.
Designed by Anthony de Francisci, the Art Deco style Peace Dollar will forever be known for ushering in the Roaring 20s and for being the first American coin issued in honor of “Peace” after World War I. It features a stunning rendition of Lady Liberty on the obverse with an American Eagle standing in profile on the reverse. Each coin is minted in .900 fine silver and, due to rarity, is in hand-selected circulated condition.
